The Departure: The Trek Begins!
Picked up from the hotel. More problems before we left though! When we arrived, we were told we had the room for four days. (Did think this was a little too lucky) They told us wrong. When we were waiting to be picked up, the hotel staff told us we had to empty our room of all our things... it had to be put in storage whilst we did the trek. Good job we had actually put everything into our bags just in case!
Finally we got into the truck which would take us to the starting point of our trek (closer to the jungle!).
We were in a group with two Italians, one Spaniard and two Danish girls!
First we had to go see the tourist police where they would tell us what to do, what not to do... be careful and we had to give them a copy of our passport! Then... to the local market where Lucky (our tour guide) bought all the food for us for our tour! All local produce... looking forward to three days of rice and vegetables!
Next, we went to a waterfall... it was so powerful! Only four of us went in the water!
It was quite a short walk from where we were dropped off to the camp. However, there was quite a lot of downhill and it had rained a lot the day/ night before..... slippy! We arrived at the camp, then about ten minutes later we saw Jose and Lucky coming down the hill! So we were shown where we were to sleep then we sat outside. All the local people were showering and washing their clothes in the river! Then it started to rain.. and rain.. and rain!
After dinner (which was rather nice), we sat around the table and played games and listened to people playing the guitar! The others went to bed though!
Good times!
