welcome to fabulous Las Vegas!!
Vegas....what can i say?! its out of this world. it is craaaaazy. The city that never sleeps! So true and so addictive!! We stepped off the plane and immediately there were pokie machines n the airport corridors! thats right...in the airport! Kinda like pokie vending machines!! But that is vegas for you! you probably thinking its ridiculous but it is vegas afterall thats what it is all about...just so you know...beth and i did have a gamble...we bet a whole of $20.00 for our complete stay in vegas...i know i know...we're big spenders! haha...i lost....beth won 40 bucks...luuucky.
vegas is all about having fun....no...fun isnt the right word....having a blast, having the time of your life, living it up!!! its seriously the night capital of the world. if you wanna see a show every night, you could and any type as well..we saw the new cirque de soliel perfomance called mystere. we were 9 rows back with a rail in front of us instead of a row of people so we had the best view possible! it was amazing. we had some of the performers standing right next to us in the aisle for part of the show. its such an amazing show. when it comes to oz go see it (if it comes!) ill go again. after the show we walked the strip at night (basically all night!), which at first was scarey but then fun when we realised its actually really safe since there are literally thousands of tourists around. beth and I had some margaritas for pretty cheap in an awesome Mexican themed place in the treasure island hotel...hang on...i better jump back a bit here and explain the 'Las Vegas' situation a bit better...sorta paint a better picture....
okay...so we stayed at the Circus Circus casino and hotel (all hotels include a casino) it was MASSIVE. we were on floor 16...there are 3 separate towers of the hotel (basically 3 hotels joined together) there are about 40 floors each tower....(big??) and in the middle of the main tower...our tower is 2 levels of casino stuff (slots, black jack, poker etc etc) Yes...2 LEVELS and they are huge...then there is a level of shops and restaurants like a mini mall...then there is a circus level where they do performances each hour..if you gambling you can watch them while you waste your money...i mean bet but if not, just watch them from the main level...then....on a level of its own...it the adventure dome which is a theme park with a massive in door cork screw rollercoaster and heaps of amusement rides and arcade games...we spent like a half a day here...we rode the rollercoaster 4 times! so fun! anyway....this was our casino...EVERY other hotel/casino on the strip is the same, but some are EVEN bigger and most have massive night clubs and awesome pools. the venetian was my favourite. its based on rome and has a painted roof that looks like a setting sun sky and its beautiful. Actually took us a while to work out the sky was fake...whoops. I reckon we had a pretty detailed conversation about how nice the sunset was that night haha. The Venetian has a 'canal' with those famous boats running thru the entire casino and its got TONS of italian restaurants...one that we ate at...very yum and authentic...and tons of shops including a department store! wow. massive. anyway, some of these hotels have show theatres and that is where we saw our show...at treasure island theatre (another casino based on pirates, islands etc etc-the entrance is surrounded by water and u cross a wooden bridge!!) There was a massive show out the front too, like everywhere in Vegas there's just free shows wherever you go!
we also rode the New York New York (yet another hotel) rollercoaster which was so much bigger than the adventure dome one...heappppppps fun and we went on the stratosphere which is a msssive high tower that u get an elevator up then ride thrill rides on the top which hang over the edge and one that is like the tower of terror but on a needle point on the top of the tower. pretty sweeet
oh and vegas was extreme heat. probably about 45 degrees celcius everyday and really dry hot heat. we got sunburnt just walking down the strip during the day (oh we also swam in the pools!) fun You can pool hop and go in any casino's pool!
vegas was great but 3 days there was enough so we were glad to move on to san diego when the time came.
