Hi!!!
Well I've finally made it to America!!! The flight over was soooo long. Beth and I flew from Adelaide to Auckland, which took just under 4 hours. Then we flew onto San Francisco direct from Auckland which took about 12 hours. Trying to sleep on a plane is almost imposible!! If you get comfy, the next thing you know is your legs are numb and u can't feel your toes, or your pillow falls off the seat, or the hostess wakes you to see if you want something...or you are ready to land!!
Landing in San Fran was a goooood feeling, very exciting. We managed to get to our hostel ok, and left straight after a shower. We got hit on by some scarey black gangsters on our walk into town and propositioned by a couple of really attractive homeless people, wanting a girlfriend for a day or a dollar...
The city seemed verrry sketchy at first but then we finally got to the city centre, found a Macy's shopping centre and were in heaven. the prices are so much cheaper here and with the dollar rate being so good we scored some pretty good bargains. except u have to add 8.5 percent tax to every purchase...kinda like GST but they dont add it to thre price until aafter u buy it...if that makes sense......oh and tipping is GREAT FUN....we've had a few issues trying to work this out....exactly how much we are meant to tip is really NOT easy. i think we're slowly getting it tho.
so...quickly, cos my internet time is running out...we have seen awesome things in the city...we've been to fisherman's warf, pier 39 (which is aawesome fun), civic centre, union square, golden gate bridge-but it was so foggy we could hardly see it, san fran bay aquarium, ripleys believe or not museum and a heap more. we are at the airport now gonna fly to nicaragua where luckily it will be a lot warmer than here-seeriosuly feels like our winter, its the coldest state in the us-14 degrees today
any way gotta go, will post photos iin the next few days as dont have a usb here at the mo
take it easy,
Zoe
