Hey everyone!
So after leaving Hobart, we headed up through the middle of Tassie, stopping off at a couple of wineries Meadowbank and Coal River, which fuelled Em's thirst for the day! We arrived in the north of the island after a stupidly long drive and stayed in a campsite near the beach at Ulverstone. The next day we went towards Devonport ready for the Spirit of Tasmania crossing that evening. As it wasn't till the evening me and the mrs went for a swim in the sea which was very cold! After getting on the ferry we were lucky enough to have a right couple of bogans sitting in the seats infront of us. A couple of strange looking twins who sounded just like Cath and Kim! Alex would have been right at home!
On arriving back in Melbourne we met up with the Davie family for some brekkie and watched Liv rowing on the river, she did bloody well! We headed down to Lakes Entrance that evening on the south coast of Victoria. We went for our usual marathon walk in the evening along to 90 mile beach which was spectacular and the sunset that followed almost beat the beach (see pics)!
Merimbula next, where we actually got some time by a pool, and Em almost sat on a very large spider, as you can imagine it didn't go down well! Batemans Bay the next day and Kiama the day after that as we headed up the east coast of NSW. You may be getting the jist, we were in abit of a rush to get north of Sydney to Umina for our anniversary, which proved to be slightly pointless, more of that later.
So the big story of the blog, we decided to head to Palm Beach to see where the great Aussie soap Home and Away is filmed, so Em could say she'd been there and make Tash slightly jealous! When we got there there was a load of commotion on the beach and the great Alf Stewart was standing with his fishing rod being filmed with Cassie. We watched them for a while then headed up the surf club, around the caravan dressing rooms and bumped into Martha who had just come out of make-up! The girls had a little chat and Em couldn't really speak, but somehow managed to talk about her friend back home Tash somewhere in the conversation! As we were going to leave Alf Stewart walked past and Em jumped in and got a photo with him as well, all she said afterwards was that he smelt nice??!!
Then the storms came in Narrabean with some incredible lightning and thunder. We met a couple who said a couple of the campsites weren't very nice so we decided to head up to Umina a day early and check it out before our anniversary stay there. What followed was unbelievable! The place was pretty much a trailer park for the bogans, but you would have been proud of Em there were no tears or paddy! So we made the very difficult decision to leave toute de suite before we became Bogan stew!
So now came the decision of where were we going to go................After a long and difficult thinking period, not, we headed to the Hunter Valley! We stayed in a campsite which was a vineyard and had a great couple of days visiting the vineyards and tasting some great wines!
We have now headed further north to the Port Stephens region and the sun has come out at last! We have spoiled ourselves rotten with an ensuite site which basically means there is a hut on our pitch with a toilet and a shower in it! So our 1st wedding anniversary will be spent consuming all the nice wine we have bought, a barbie and our 1st day just chilling out for a few weeks!
We will put photos on in a minute, but we may not have time to name them all, so you may have to wait a bit longer for that! (OK so just tried to upload photos and didn't work so we will have to try again later!)
Love to all and hope to hear from you soon
