Today we left bangkok to fly to Chiang Mai. We did plan to get up for a swim and breakfast but after our night in the water fight we over slept. We flew with Air Asia which was good and as it was only a one hour flight by time we took off it didn't feel long before we were landing. When we got to Chiang Mai we collected our luggage and went to find information and somewhere in the departures for us to book a hotel and jungle trek. We managed to book both and decided on a one day trek. As it was during the Thai New Year places were pretty booked up at at first the lady didn't think there would b any treks on but luckily there were. We left the airport to look for a taxi or tuc tuc. We tried to Barta for a taxi and because the taxi driver wouldn't drop the price we decided to walk on as we assumed there would b lots more. There waning many taxis as all and we found most taxis didn't even want to take us to our hotel because of us being in the centre of the water festival. We didn't want to go back tot he first guy so we decided to put on our heavy backpacks and walk a little out of the airport. Eventually we called a tuc tuc down and he agreed to take us to our hotel for basically the same amount as the first taxi driver. On the way to our hotel we noticed that Somgkran Festival was still in full swing with everyone soaking each other on the streets we even had to make a run from the taxi to out hotel so we wouldn't get our stuff all wet. Luckily we found out now bangkok the water throwing stops after eight pm. Our hotel was nice with a pool and the room was basic but very clean- no bugs in sight! We relaxed for a while and used the free wifi in our room before we got ready to go out for some food and a look around. We were staying just at one end of the canal and on our way to find a restaurant I saw a rat which made me and Amelia jump and unlike our room lots of beetles on the path. We found a nice place to eat called Johns place were we could sit upstairs on the outside. We enjoyed some Pad Thai which was our first proper Thai food since coming to Thailand. Once we'd finished and had a drink we went for a wounded to see what the night life was like. We asked some people where was food to go and ended up finding a groups of clubs which were pretty busy with tourists. The main club was Zoe's and we stayed there and had a dance and a drink. It was a nice area with a lit up courtyard in the middle. We meet some people from Milton Keynes who were the first English people we had met so it was nice to chat. Once we'd had another dance we decided it was time to head back to our hotel.
