Ons is baie beindruk met die grootte van Munich. A city with more than 13 miljoen citizens But I expected the area the towns to be more neat an taken care off. It is ok but not very neat
Accommodation is expensive because of the October Fest something of very big importance for the Bavarian people.
All over on trains and other public transport it is so easy to see local people going up to the fest dressed in German outfits and the woman in dresses what they call Dierel. What surprises me is that the young people are rocking up in their thousands but all dressed up in this cultural outfit.
There was no need to navigate or to ask directions just follow the crowds with the traditional dresses and you will reach the right station and follow the crowd
The festival is huge it is in a huge park with 26 huge tents housing 4-6 thousand happy drinkers Talking and eating and listen to music
Outside are garden areas where yu can listen to music and there are another 2thousand outside
Toilets are huge to handle the masses of Beer drinkers and clean.
In between these huge tents are food stalls and snack huts .
We saw amazingly very little children maybe they were still in school we where there around 12 o clock
German people dress up when they rock up to this festival. Woman are all beautifull made up.
We strolled between three huge tents and could not sit down. Germany works on bookings you and 6-12 friends book a table then sit down
Your reservation runs from 11 -4pm and then again 4 pm- 11pm
The groups look like work colleagues and families and other just friends
We got a seat for one hour only an across us where people from Praag Russia and America who came especially for the Fest.
The atmosphere inside the park is so full of fun and frolic. It is so strange to walk upon so many people and feeling threatened and scared to be pick pocketed.
Well I was the in the morning and maybe not the time when criminals play their mischief, but the absence of Police in force was allspice strange.
Well we had a couple of half liter beers and Pretzels with salt
The music was German but not umpa! Only "ein prozit" is all Umpa I heard the rest was light classics and some German Folk songs
We left after one hour and strolled through the park and was in wonder the masses and masses of people attending.
We left with happy harts a very enjoyable morning and worth to see and experience.
