After spending a few days just with the family, I though it's about time I caught up with a couple of old friends of mine. Last night, I went out with Mei and her family for a seafood dinner. They ordered some yummy food, which included butter prawns, a chicken dish, oyster omelette thing, and a local vege which looks very much like a mini version of a koru. It's such a yummy meal!
The restaurant is new but obviously popular, it was completely packed! I was quite thankful we had an inside table in the air conditioned restaurant. Meals here are eaten in a "communal" kinda way. What I mean by this is you order a few dishes, and have them all in the middle of a large, usually round table and share this with everyone at your table. Often, it is a very noisy and festive type situation where people chat, laugh and share food.. quite a funny sight.
Today, I caught up with Glenda and her fiance Kevin. They picked me up and we went out for Laksa - yes, more food... haha. Then we went for a nice drive to Damai, approx 40 mins away from Kuching city. There are a few resorts in this area, but one in particular has recently been refurbished and under new management. So we decided to check it out. This resort is now called Damai Puri.
The resort looked really good after the refurbishment, with an awesome pool and view... just look at the pictures! Perhaps we can book a night at the resort next time I am back in Kuching?
Now, I am back at home, it's quite a lazy hot afternoon and it's quite tempting to just go and take a nanna nap - maybe I just might!
