I arrived on Gili Trawangan a couple of days ago and have slipped into island life without too much trouble. The weather has really improved and my master plan of finishing with 2 weeks on the beach is coming together! Cars and mopeds are not permitted on Gili T, the transport is by bicycle £2 per day to hire or by horse and cart. The island is tiny though so I'm mostly walking (from the beach to the restaurant and back again :)
I stayed first few nights in a beach bungalow right on the point of the sunset which was beautiful, but I was the only person in the resort and it was a bit out of town so after one scary walk home in the dark (thank god for the head torch) I moved to a more upmarket pad with aircon, minibar, tv and other guests!!
The island is vey laid back and full of small chill out bars with beanbags, good restaurants and snorkelling trips a plenty. I've even got a hammock on my balcony which is ace. On my first day here I made friends with a girl from France, Anais and we have spent the last few days together which has been really good. Anais has been travelling on and off for 2 years and is an expert at bartering so helping me out with shopping!
I am debating whether to do my Advances Padi divers course here while I have a few days, it's quite reasonable and I have met some instructors who are trying to persuade me but to be honest I think I just want to chill now after all the hectic activity!
That's it for now, i'm signing off to finish my banana pancake breakfast!
Bye for now
