We woke up early and made our way to Toronto billy bishop airport. The best airport we have ever been to!! It was quiet, there was no queues, you got free coffee, tea, and soft drinks as well as small snack, in the sitting area you had your own leather chair, table, reading light and plugs with working wifi, haha. I know it's a small airport but this is still bludy amazing we think.
On arrival into Quebec City our first thoughts were that it was a really pretty city. It seemed like we had gone to another country with its French influence it was very European. Our hotel - Jardin Du Gouverneurs was in the perfect location right next to the famous La Chateau Frontenac hotel (said to be the most photographed hotel in the world) It was built in 1893 and Mackenzie King, Winston Churchill and Franklin Roosevelt planned D-Day here. It really was beautiful. We wish we were staying there but we didn't have $500+ a night to spare!
In the afternoon we went to see Montmorency falls just outside the city. We walked along the suspended footbridge above the falls which had amazing views. You then took the 500 steps down to the foot of the falls where you could stand right at the edge and get absolutely soaked.... So I did. Didn't see much as there was so much spray but it cooled me down. Then we caught the cable car back up to the top.
In the evening we went down the street and found a lovely restaurant where we sat in the window overlooking the busy street full of places to eat and souvenir shops. We both had prosciutto pizza.
Later on we walked around onto the boardwalk over looking the St Lawrence river. The city really comes alive at night with so much going on, there was a festival and street performers, people playing music. It's a cool place just to sit and soak up the atmosphere.
