Just a quick blog to keep you up to date with our travels. We left Zion early because we had a long day of driving in front of us.
Our first stop was the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. The North Rim is just 30 miles from teh South, but over 2000 feet higher in elevation. It was brisk out when we arrived in mid-morning. We put jackets on and walked over to the Lodge.
The view was gorgeous, but the high winds kept us observing from the huge picture windows, for the most part. Jon touched Brighty's nose for good luck and off we went towards the desert.
The wind really kicked up through the afternoon, greatly obscuring our view of Monument Valley. It was the first time the weather prevented our full enjoyment of this adventure. We stopped at a Navajo trading post to buy some trinkets, but mostly we drove and drove through the varied landsxapes of Arizona and Utah.
We arrived at our bed and breakfast near Mesa Verde just before sunset and immediately took advantage of the wonderful hot tub. Mmmmmm.... relaxing...
