So, I will be the first to admit the absense of writing on the blog is awful and I apologize from the depths of my heart. First month in Sydney was an experience that I will share with you face to face as I feel that ship has sailed and I will now update you on what I'm currently doing in a tiny little blog.
From January 2nd 2013 I moved in with Jay and Billie, real Ozzie's with whom I met through Jake when they were on their travels through Europe. They have been kind enough to offer their home for however long I may need as I have now found a job! Graphic design for an estate agent company, how did I find this job? Answered yes to questions where the answer should have been no. I believe this era of my life will be known as the 'great fluke of 2013' - almost rolls of the tounge.
The house is superb, 2 minute walk from the beach and the pub (paradise does spring to mind) with cracking variety of views, no internet which is good and bad but mainly good? I mean it's nice to emmerse myself in the Australian culture... beer, cricket and backgammon. Most nights seem to end up in backgammon tournaments which always ends up in the pomms showing the ozzie's how it's done. I have learnt so many card games here I thoroughly believe I could give Paul Daniels a run for his money.
Back to cricket, huge out here. So big! No word of a lie you will struggle to find a TV station that doesn't show some form of cricket which really puts into perspective why the Australians get so bitter about the Ashes! We had a 'village ashes' the other day with the Ozzies vs The Poms. I'll call it a draw because I don't rightly know the score.. it was more for the vibe.
Met some absolutely wicked people, everyone is mega friendly so it feels good to say there isn't anyone I'm not a fan of yet. Apart from a condescending librarian. She was rude. Nerd. Thirroul is highly recommended for anyone considering down under.
The plan now is to eventually upload some photos so Inspector Bongo gets off my case.. and then save for a car.. Jake's headed off to Asia now so unless I find road trip enthusiast it'll be a lonesome ride, like a mini fear and loathing. The car will need to be vintage but durable to take me around this vast country.
Brief, badly written but an update none the less!
Take care.
Bruce Willie.
