After the hard language classes we felt that we had deserved a spring break in Cancun (after all it is spring in Argentina).
Isla mujeres
On our first day we visited Isla Mujeres, the Island of Women. The island is located eight miles across the Bahia de Mujeres (Bay of Women) from Cancun. Isla Mujeres is a very small fishing village with beautiful beaches. Compared to busy Cancun the atmosphere was very quiet and relaxing. If you are looking for a place where you can just chill and finish a good book Isla Mujeres is definitely the place for you.
Chichen itza
We were also lucky to see one of the new seven wonders of the world Chichen Itza, "at the mouth of the well of the Itza", which is a large pre-Columbian archaeological site built by the Maya civilization. It was unbelievable to see how developed the Maya civilization has been all those years ago. And our Mayan guide told us that the world is not under 2012, it is just the beginning of a new era in the Mayan calendar.
Beach party
You can't go to Cancun without going to a beach party and after our great cultural experience we felt like partying! Robert from our hostel organized a VIP entrance for a group of us travellers and we had heaps of fun! (the pictures are censured, sorry!)
We stayed at the Quetzal hostel and we can warmly recommend it to everyone. The food was good and the atmosphere was very cosy. In the evenings all guests and personnel had dinner together - thank you Robert, Luis and all other guys!
