Well having left La Paz we have now arrived on the shores of Lake Titicaca. The trip was, as usual, an exciting one....the road to Copacabana is pretty good for a change but there is a little section where you need to get off the bus to make your way across the straights between big and little caca!!! to the peninsula where Copacabana lies.....the photos will be uploaded soon so keep an eye out for a boat the same size as a coach and a quite exciting cross current!!!
I fell over on the passenger boat causing a minor focal point of hilarity before the captain of our ship (small dinghey!!) pointed out that only two weeks ago there had been a major event on the crossing where several people drowned!!!!! Whooppey! joy!! So having navigated our way across we managed to find our Hotel (!! point for further development) a bright pink place on the beach front.
Copacabana itself is mainly a passing through point for most travellers but it does have a certain charm!!! The fact that everyone has their car blessed by the local monk is something exciting and the post baptism celebrations are most entertaining!!! From the rich champagne spraying of a new 4WD to the slightly less decadent Coca Cola spraying of a transit van....but each to there own eh!
Lake Titicaca itself is stunning, at just under 4000m above sea level its very interesting landscape with few trees and stark mountains but we are looking forward to our trip to the Isla del Sol (the origin of the Inca´s) tomorrow on a boat trip!!!! Should be exciting as things in BOlivia tend to be!
Just trying to find out what sort of tourist pizza derivative we should risk this evening, fingers crossed we have escaped most bad bugs so far but some of the places are looking risky!!There seems to be one common theme at the moment to meeting new people also!! First introduction, generally a bad joke by myself or similar followed by some slightly uncomfortable discussion around where you´ve been and where your going, (maybe some names at some point) and then in to the meat of the discussion, illness and bowel habits!!
