The last week has been fantastic!! We´ve just returned from an amazing 8 day cruise around the Galapagos Islands on the Darwin yacht.
Going to the Galapagos was one of our trip must visit places and it surpasssed all expectations.
Our yacht was lovely, quite posh in comparison to some of the hostals we´ve been staying in. We were literally fed every 2 hours and the food was great.
We spent our time sailing around the islands, snorkelling at least once or even twice a day. We have been fortunate to see land and marine iguanas, blue boobies, Nazca boobies, giant tortoises, fur seals, sea lions, penguins, frigate birds, sally lightfoot crabs, pelicans, but the list goes on!
What is unique about the wildlife of the Galapagos is how close you can get to the animals as they have no fear of humans, so you can literally make eye contact with any of the above.
The snorkelling was spectacular! We had the amazing opportunity to swim with white tip reef sharks, manta rays, eagle rays, turtles, puffer fish, penguins and sea lions plus numerous other fish of unimaginable beauty.
Everyday we got to experience something new and each day was better than the last! Getting to the Galapagos isn´t cheap but it is definately worth it, we wish we could have stayed another week. It is certainly a highlight of our trip!
This experience has wetted our appetite to learn to dive, and we would love to return again in the future. We would definately recommend anyone to go.
Our days here in South America are numbered, I think its safe to say that we have experienced this contintent justly. We´ve got to make our way to Quito before beginning to wind down our travels!
