Hong kong is mental!! Bike and I arrived safe after the 11 hr flight- cattle class no romper suit- but well looked after by the Virgin girls- thanks Dani!
Bike stored at HK airport until Monday. Took a taxi to my hostel. He dropped me on a busy street and pointed at a massive building saying in there!? To me it looked like the Merrion Center on steroids! Hundreds of shops with no real sign of an entrance- off I set blindly! After about 10 mins of wandering aimlessly I heard a voice... 'Are you looking for the hostel?' Brilliant I thought, someone to do it for me, to show me the way! ... I've been walking around for 45mins I can't find a way in *heart sank*!! she was an American girl who spoke hongkong or something. Anyways did what I do best- look confused, got the iPhone out and pointed at the address I had. Thankfully my tactic worked a nice man took us ( glad I was not on my own) through a maze of doors to the trademans lift... Up there he pointed.... Safe. hostel found. A small place looks clean above some sort of Chinese karaoke bar- nice! Slightly overwhelmed and very tired I had a few mins lay down- only to open my eyes about 3 hrs later starving! After spending about 45 mins trying to exit the building I found my way to the street- emergency exit noted ICE!! Lots of food places selling the usual chicken feet and misc meat. Got myself a safe looking waffle to keep me going and wandered along. This place is so overwhelming when your slightly jet lagged- they are on Friday night party time, I'm on no sleep last night and in a different time zone. Found what looked like a safe place to eat and sat down to my first bowl of noodle soup- the first on many I suspect. Now all I need to do is get back to the hostel!
