leanna's getting her move on!!
HAPPY EASTER!!! hope that massiveeeee bunny has brought everyone chocolate!!
well we arive in cambodia on the 14th and breazed through customers it's the quickest ive got through and airport that inc getting ma visa!! we got a ride on a moto (small moped that all the locals drive) to our hotel we made the most of the aircon in the hotel as this is the last we'd have for a while!! the next day we checked out and headed out sweating in the 40'c heat with our backpacks on (thankgod i left most of ma clothes in hk) to find a cheep guesthouse!! we moved into the capital guesthouse a favourite with us sweaty backpackers and at 2.30 pound a nite who can grumble!!( you get what you pay for!) our room consisted off two beds a fan and a shower over the toilet (it's just 5* luxuary all the way!!).
we have now seen pretty much all phnom penh has to offer we fist visted the national mueseam looking at some of the history of the khemer and differnet local arts and architecture. then we visited the royal palce which is beautiful altho you can't actual go inside of course as the king and queen stil live there (they asked me round of course!) we also looked around some temples and the famouse silver pagoda which is called so because it's floor is made up of over 5000 silver tiles very impresive!!! we also saw the emerald buddha (u guessed it it's made from emerald!!) afterb that we went down to the river front (tonle sap river) this is were most of the bars and restaurents are to get our munch on!! we talked to a girl from norway and some americans all telling us were to go and what to do etc!!. everyone is really friendly and happy to point you in the rite direction it's a lot easier here than i thought it would be i thought there mite have been more of a language barrier!!
today (after a rather uncomfatble hot nite) we walked to the toul sleng museum this used to be a high school here until it was taken over by pol pot and turned into a prison known as s-21 this was a very disturbing place quiet upsetting as you walked through the classrooms that had been changed into mass cells for innocent cambodiens there were rooms just full of pictures of the people who were taken into and and never rtn out of alive from s-21 it was men, woman, children, babies and some forigners we saw and read about the awful conditions they went through and how they were tortured till death!!
after this we then headed to the killing fields of choeung ek this is were the prisioners of s-21 were buried in mass gaves over 17,000 ppl were dumped here we lit incence burners as a mark of respect for the dead and read throught the bords around us and then headed back into the city. so all in all a very morbid day but what i colouldn't belive is this all only happened just over 30 years ago in the 70's i can't understand how no one stopped this!!
well it has been newyear here and like in thailand we have been atacked by locals mainly the little children they are runny around trying to water bomb people and puting talk all over them im now sat covered in the stuff ( i look just great!!)
well we have booked our bus trip up to siem rep for tomorrow 7:30 start (fantastic) so we can visit the temples of angkor which i can't wait to see should get some good photo's for u all!! keep the msg coming and i will update as soon as possible hopefuly before we leave cambodia for bangkok!!
