Hello peeps, it's Caroline writing! My first post here, exciting.
Yesterday me and Weronica sat down at the kitchen table, just chatting away about random stuff, planning for the trip. I brought home another book from the library, it's about discovering the Australian outback. Great one, will be of good use for getting ideas here at home, and for drooling over the magnificent pictures of the country and it's goodies. Anyway, we were chatting away about all the thing's we need to look up, get in order and fix before leaving and when we get there. There's loaaads! At home it's CSN, uni (at least for me), Försäkringskassan, vaccinations, Visa, passport, international drivers license, insurance... it never ends. To all that add practical things like getting a good backpack, shoes, what to pack and bring and what to leave home... and when we finally get there, after a monstrous flight, we will need to sort out banking, medicare, identification number/social security number (what do they even have as an equivalent to our "personnummer"?)... yep. We've got stuff to do. But it still feels like it's a long time until we get there. August 29. But as always, time will fly and suddenly we are saying our good-byes to crying family members and friends, green-faced jealous and happy for our adventure. Wah!
As you can imagine it's sort of hard focusing on the present and school work right now. Knowing what we are about to do in some months, it's really hard to feel genuine motivation when it comes to university demands and work. Should maybe be the other way around, but it's not. I think I'm speaking for both me and Weronica here. Well, that's also one of the big reasons why I personally am going to do this trip. I like what I do in school, I like my life in Lund, I like what I got here... but. There's something missing and I need to get away for a while. I needs mah adventure right nows. And I need a break from uni, even though social work studies are interesting and so far, my cup of tea.
Well, speaking of them, they are calling on me. Got to read some Erving Goffman, but that'll be okay, he's an interesting fellah. This post was my first, and I guess a rather personal one, not as much about progress and what to do, where to do it, Visas etc, but about other things. Hope you enjoy that aswell.
Also hope this blog is going to stay pretty active and living throughout our big, huge, fat, lovely, amazing, brilliant, Aussie-adventure to come.
