Whilst it all seems to be kicking of in Bangkok, what better opportunity than to sit in and write another travel blog. Last time I think I got as far as Rainbow beach (i actually didn't see any Rainbows there). It was a nice little town with one street and a beach at the end of it. I managed to see some dolphins and a couple of hump back whales whilst Kayaking out in the bay but apart from that there wasn't really all that much to Rainbow.
After Rainbow Beach I headed further south to a busy little town called Noosa which has an abundance of expensive shops and cafes which wasn't exactly ideal when your on a absolutely tiny budget. There is a notional park that runs along the coast and there are plenty of deserted beaches scattered along the route. After a bit of a trek up an annoyingly long hill I came across a small bay called Alexander Bay which seemed to be deserted. It was one of the best beaches that I had seen since visiting Australia so I decided to catch up on some tan and go for a swim. Whilst paddling around (not wanting to go out too far so not to get eaten by a shark) I noticed some unfortunate chap that appeared to have lost his board shorts in the surf. As I wondered back onto the beach giggling (still a very mature responsible adult as many already know), I noticed that there were more of these unfortunate people that had been washed up and loosing all of their swim wear in the process. It didn't take much longer for me to realise I was the only one that had their clothes on. I can honestly say that if I had known it was a nudist beach I probably would have still gone anyway just for a laugh! Noosa was a really nice stop where I managed to relax and get a bit more training done in preparation for the Himalayas and there wasn't a single cloud the whole time I was there!
The following day, I headed south again and bypassed straight through Surfers Paradise (most American place outside of America) and Brisbane straight to a place called Byron Bay. Byron Bay was yet another small seaside town with a very laid back hippy atmosphere. I met up with a really great group of people and ended up having a great time sampling some of Byon's night life. I also managed to get a bit of surfing in which would only be the second time since I had been in Australia (there is hardly anywhere to surf in Australia!) so I was pretty pleased.
From Byron I headed back up North to Brisbane where I would be flying out of back to Adelaide to surprise Gem for her birthday. I can't really comment on Brisbane because I only spent one night there, the showers were OK I suppose? So from Brisbane I headed back to Adelaide because we hardly spent any time there last time. It was Gemma's 22nd (thats so old Gem!!) and we had a great party on Sunday in the park across from her house and the weather was perfect for a change. It was so much fun catching up with all the friends I had made and left behind and also on the day that I departed me and Tim decided to investigate where all our money had gone whilst we had stayed in Adelaide. The Coopers Brewery tour was really interesting but they didn't offer us any shares in the company.
So yet again I had to leave Adelaide (i think this must be about the 6th time). I was sad to say bye to everyone but I've had so much practice so it wasn't too bad this time. I flew from Adelaide into Sydney where I spent the night reflecting on my time in Australia as well as trying to sleep on a steel chair. When I look back on my time in Australia I will remember making some amazing friends and Tim and getting really close to family that I didn't even know existed. Also seeing some fantastic sights and not having to work for months at a time!
