Flora's travells
Hey people,
We are now in Adelaide, but first i need to finish our tour of the West coast.
So on Saturday, we had a lie in! Well we got up at eight instead of half six and had a fry up before heading to Turquoise bay. This looked exactly like the picture above (which is of coral bay, where we were the day before). The beach ws empty and we practically had it to ourselves. We all had snorkel gear so we were able to literally walk about five metres into the sea and we could snorkel amoungst the coral and fish. This is such an amazing experience, there were loads of tiny electic blue fish and Chris spotted an octopus in the coral. There were parrot fish and nemo fish, all very colourful. We did some sunbathing and then had some lunch. After lunch we moved to the other side of the bay, where there were turtles and also a couple of sharks!! Apparently one was spotted in the shallow waters so I thought it best to stay on the beach and do some more sunbathing! It was really nice to have a day relaxing on the beach and not having to be travelling on the bus for miles. It was so calm and quite there, it was beautiful. On the way back in the bus, we stopped in the road and saw a massive wedge tail eagle (member of the golden eagle family I think) feasting on a dead kangaroo. It was an amazing site to see this beautiful bird fly off as we approached, not like your average crow!!
That evening, instead of cooking for ourselves, we went out for a meal at the resaurant on site, which was really nice. It gave everyone a chance to sit down eat and chat without worrying about who had to do the washingup etc!! After this we all sat up for a while chatting and finishing off any last beers!
On Saturday we were up early (5:45, so much for the lie ins!) and started out journey back to Perth. Our first stop was back to Coral bay where we dropped a couple of our group off and picked two more people up. After our goodbyes and hellos we headed on to our next port of call. This was about a 650k drive!!
This was a slightly different stop. We were heading to Hut River Provence, which is a country in it's own right in Austrailia. It is owned by Prince Leonard, and is a small farm down a long dirt track where he has his own government buildings and post office. He has no rights as an Austrailian citizen and owns his own land where you have to be a citizen of Hut River Provence to live! It was all very surreal. We all got our pasports stamped for a visa of one day! He showed us around his own chapel where they have ceremonies and Chris and I got to sit in the Prince and Princess chairs, (I think it suited me!!).
He had his own statue of himself and a museum full of attributes and photographs of him with numerous powerful people.
So with our visas expiring we left and drove onto out accomodation for the night. This was another sheep farm and on arrival we had supper cooked for us, which was lamb or chicken stew where we sat in a big barn to eat.
After eating we played some table tennis and the two new German girls who we picked up that day showed us a game. We had hours of fun with this and were playing until about 1 in the morning. It's quite complicated to explain (so I won't!) but it basically entails having to find out who the werewolf is before you are killed off, very fun!!!
The next day was our return to Perth, and on the way we stopped off at a wildlilfe park. Here we got to feed camels, kangaroos, and see dingos and a crocodile, who decided to take a snap at two people from our tour! It was behind a cage but still gave them a bit of a shock!!
We also got to hold some baby and a mother python, when the tour guide decided to wrap it round my neck twice I was slightly concerned but all was ok and I'm still breathing!! (Pictures of these will be up soon).
When we got back to perth it was a sad goodbye but a few of us arranged to meet for lunch the next day, which was really nice. On Monday after lunch we said goodbye to one more and then four of us went to get coffee and cake before heading back to our own hostels.
The next evening Chris and I went out for dinner with a couple we met which was a really nice evening, we all have each others e mail addresses and now each of us has about 7 different places to stay around the world!!!
It was an amazing trip where we all made some good friends and I would definately recommend it to anyone comming to Oz.
I will update again when we are in Melbourne.
Lots of love to you all
