The Start of The End Of Summer?
It has been two months since my last update.Since then I have been fully on the water sailing out from Athens and around the Saronic Islands.I have now done six bareboat charters and finished my last one on Saturday 3rd September.
My highlights of the past two months are meeting everyone that I have met and hearing their stories, their intimate secrets and their opinions about the state that Greece is in and how beautiful she is. I have been lucky enough to have sailed some fantastic, big, new yachts around the Greek isles and have loved almost every minute.I have loved it when a boat full of Italian ladies tried to tie up onto the rocks next to us and they called over, "Please help, I don't know what to do."And when another boat full of Spanish lovelies asked me to help them find a space.I loved it whenever the wind blew up to at least a force 5 and we got the boat sailing well. I loved having the one day off inbetween charters when I took the tram into central Athens, saw the Acropolis and took an open bus tour around the city.I enjoyed it when we met up with a Greek friend at Spetses and we went on his caique for a day, and he took us to some amazing bays. One had some Greek pillars in and one had a cave that is only head-height above the water level and opens out once you have swum in and housed 400 Greeks during a turkish invasion.I only wish I had found that out earlier. Thanks to him, I also had the best meal in Greece, on the island of Hydra.
My lowlights would be…. that it is over for this year.If you don't believe me then that is fine. This job has met my high expectations.
Now that this part of the season is over I am moving back to Corfu to work from there - the same as I did at the start of the summer.Apparently there is a lot of new staff so I will be the unfamiliar one!
