Apologies for the delay in posting up our latest update. Since Cambodia, we've been busy. After two nights in Bangkok we made our way to Koh Pha-ngan by overnight bus to partake in the full moon festivities although due to buckets of rum, red bull and coke I remember very little of this. We met up with all our people from Laos plus a couple more and unfortunately we had to say goodbye to Jake and Dave, a nice couple who were making there way to Oz for the Mardi Gras I believe.
After the full moon we spent one more day in Pha-ngan before making our way to Koh Tao to do the PADI Open Water Scuba Diving course. Farm and I of course both passed with flying colours. In the midst of this strange learning period was of course several nights out on the buckets, one of these at Lotus bar could arguably have been messier than the full moon party (It's the night which is illustrtated by photos of Farm spread out on the beach being bundled). For some reason when I've had a few buckets I like to take lots of photos and there were several of sleeping dogs and other such interesting sights. With the constant removal of the camera from my pocket though I must have managed to let our room key slip out of my pocket which resulted in me sleeping on the floor of Ryan's (a guy from our dive course, cheers mate) room and Farmer staying with Kerry and Dani. The day after this we left for Koh Samui, we didn't stay here long before moving on to Krabi where the curse of the buckets was to strike again. Incidents from this night were numerous but highlights included Sarah willingly receiving the amorous advances of a Thai girl (more photos are available on request) and Deano who isn't the largest of chaps telling a 6 ft 4, 20 stone Australian that he knew the score and to get out of his room, all said in a very threatening manner I assume. We also did some kayaking here and fed the monkeys! This was also where we said goodbye to Deano, hope to see you in Oz mate!
Next stop, Phi Phi, a very party orientated Island. We stayed here for 3 nights and the island was full, with the aftermath of the Tsunami still evident and a lack of guesthouses to accomodate the demand. The Thai builders did seem to be working virtually 24/7 to get more guesthouses built. After a black moon party and some more buckets I was ready for a quiet night with a few beers however, this wasn't to be. After telling everyone that I was perfectly happy with my Chiang beer and politely declining their offers of bucket I bumped into Olly Wood. Some of you may know him from the Southampton Uni basketball team and will recall that he was pretty much our resident piss-head, getting thrown out and sometimes not even getting let in, in the first place, of classy establishments in Soton such as Jesters and Academy (R.I.P). After a bit of a chat Olly came over with two buckets of Mean Green Tiger and not wanting to offend Olly by declining his generous offer I obliged and so another night on the buckets began. However this was to be a more successful night on the buckets with little to no memory loss!! People were moving about a lot and Farm and I ended up chatting to some Argentines, Dani was with a Dutch policeman and Sarah with a lovestruck Venezuelan and also Olly.
Since then we have had a week or so off the buckets and chilled out by the pool in Koh Lanta with Kerry, Dani and Sarah. We have unfortunately had to say goodbye to the girls, Kerry making her way to Oz and Sarah and Dani back to the UK. Thank you so much for coming with us and making our time in Thailand a lot more interesting! After Koh Lanta we spent a night in Hat Yai before coming down to Penang, Malaysia where we arrived yesterday. There's a lot of history in Penang to do with the East Indian Company and we went to see Fort Cornwallis this morning which was it's administrative base. It's a real mix of cultures here, mainly Indian, Chinese and Thai. We went for an Indian last night, we didn't get plates just big leaves to eat our dinner off! We're here for a couple more nights and then probably down to Kuala Lumpar, Singapore and then Bali where the next activity will be to become surfing pro's.
Will and Farm
PS we heard our first Christmas carol today!
