Thankful for our chance of a lie in, we awoke at 11am ready to go to the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum to see his body lying in state. However, we discovered that this was only open until 11am each day. b*****! Our hotel phone then rang & it was Carly asking if we fancied meeting up for lunch. Having missed breakfast, this was a great idea, but the thought of more noodles & rice wasn't very appealing, we needed proper hangover food. So we made use of the best restaurant in town....KFC! The rest of the day consisted of generally bumming around the city, having the occasional hair of the dog & dodging the hoards of people, cars & mopeds. Today was Chinese New Year's Eve's Eve, so people were out in force & it made crossing the road a potential death trap. After saying goodbye to Alan & Carly (& potentially arranging a meet up on the beaches of Thailand), Joel & I caught a bicycle tuk-tuk back to the hotel to ensure that we didn't die in the mass of people. There we met the 3 new people joining us on the Laos tour & headed off for dinner & drinks to say farewell to those we were leaving behind. Hanoi had been far too busy & hectic for my liking & I was looking forward to the chilled relax that Laos promised.
