well the sun is setting on my time in the Cook Islands. Rarotonga has been the most amazing 2 weeks, just living the island life and truly winding down to a pace i could quite easily get use too, yes mum & dad a slower and lazier pace then i am at home! we have met some amazing people and done some memorable things.
This last week has flown by, probably because iv spent half the time drunk or hungover. we did manage however to do some game fishing apart from the trip lacked in game and fish! yes we drew a blank and caught nothing but the sun! still an awesome trip though. saw a Turtle crusing around the lagoon and then came accross 2 huge Humpback whales! something iv always wanted to see is whales in the wild and to see these 2 huge creatures was a dream come true. The island its self looks awesome from the otherside of the reef, get to see the moutains and all the beaches!
so after drawing a blank on the old game fishing me and adam where so determined to catch something we had to hammer the spear fishing to try and get some more fish in the lagoon. A very successful day actually this time, managed to bag ourselves 4 Trumpet fish and a octapus! shame i gashed my hand open when trying to snap the trumpet fishes neck! we ate well that night!
we have helped out a little around the shack, guy came to chop down a coconut tree the other day so helped abit with that! rather him then me up those trees, there bloody huge!!!
Beach volleyball and French bowls are probably my 2 new favourite sports and could probably turn pro by the time im home! Adam has a pretty mean spike on him too!
a crowd of us took off in convoy one day to the Waterfalls for a dip, this waterfall ended up been a little trickle as it is not wet season however the pool was still deep enough to swim in and dive off the rocks into. it was quite high up in the hills so the moped ride was quite interesting going through banana platations and jungle areas! tiger mozzys are mean b*****s though, could suck you dry in an hour given the chance! haha.
so last full day yesterday, me, adam and Matt decide we just get wasted and watch a game of island cricket, after that go down to black rock and catch the sunset. Rarotonga is one of the last places on earth the sunsets each day so thats pretty cool! saw another 3 whales aswell playing around near the reef, couple of calves diving around which was pretty amazing to watch!
so here i am now, sat packed and ready to rock out of the island and on to Aukland where ive been told its about 15 degrees! burrr! mind you its probably snowing at home! haha. me and adam really dont want to leave, i reckon we maybe back sooner then we think to Raro, locals have taken to us well and we have made alot of new friends out here!
We have adopted and new traveller with us too, Marcel, a guy from the Neatherlands is joining us for 5 weeks around NZ, he was suppose to be there for 10 days but we have currupted his trip now! poor lad! plus we are meeting up with a couple of Scottish girls for abit, they will travel with us for a few weeks too i reckon! gonna be a right fun bus when we get the campervan on the road!
Next time i leave a message i shall be ahead of you guys in time for the 1st time of my trip!
Kia Orana Rarotonga!
