Just arrived after an 8 hour overnight train ride, they are always very tiring as sleep is hard. couldnt check in till midday so we just wondered round a lil bit of town and grabbed some breakfast. 3.20Euro for 2 chocolate quassants and 2 coffes wasnt bad, and so far my portuguese has held up wel enough! we are hoping to meet up with Jen and Ben whom we met in Madrid also! nothing much planed for Portugal thus far, but we have booked in here for 2 nights ...

woah! we have just arrived in Madrid after god knows how many hours of traveling. it didnt cost too much thanks o our euro rail card, instead we only pay for reservations and supplements. i dont even know ho many hundreds of euros we saved thus far. last night we started off great on our overnight journey having a whole carriage to ourselfs, but it all went terribly wrong sumwhere. suddently we were in spanish train station we were expecting to be still Frenc...

today we booked our train for irun on the boarder of spain and france: from there we just basically hope we can get a train to Madrid that isnt fully booked (as a lot have been recently; so,e hjoliday in france or something). if we canget an overnight one we can save money on a hostel. We recently started recording how much we are spending and although paris was very expensive... we are confidant we can last 3 ,onths co,fortably: essentially we budget 25Euros...

Well we took Tom's advice to check out these free tours, and WA-WAH-WEE Wah it was good. In 3.5 hours (list time, turned out to be more like 6 hours guide) we must of seen just about all the sights of Paris central. In context, the day before we spent 6 hours and only managed to identify 2 of the main ones, the tower and De Champs-Elysees! That inside knowledge helped us a lot and the guide was excellent.
