Our day started with bending the Genoa back on and a quick check that the furling gear was happy to 'do the business'. Then the lock-keeper (our mate Andy) suggested turning the boat round 'wiv string' ready to go out. Well, he obviously hadn't spotted skip' giving the crew briefing for said operation! Andy helped us turn the boat on the spot without any trauma despite some lively gusts.
Anyway, just as we left we spotted another lickle problem so we picked up our favourite buoy outside to sort ourselves out.
Then we had nice S A I L, yes sail. Everything went well and we sailed all the way to Queenborough, albeit a force 6 with prolonged gusts of force 7 or 8. Why is it all or nothing at all? Still, with a reef in the main and just a tad of jib White Satin shook off recent troubles, picked up her skirt and flew. 7 knots plus, add a couple or so more for tide...much more like it!
Harbour master at Queenborough seems to have gone to hide so we had to choose our own mooring. Found a good un and tied on wiv lots of string.
Currently blowing like old boots, and more forecast tomoz........
Beer o'clock - we deserve it
