G'day everyone!
We were in Australia for 12 days but simply had no time to update our sight. We spent a busy 3 days checking out downtown Sydney, the shops and all the usual tourist sights. It was all fantastic to see but our favourite find was the $5 steak and mash meals in some of the bars which were an absolute bargain and tasted great!
On our 4th day we met up with Auntie Suzie (Jake's mums long lost sister) in Dee Why right in the middle of the Northern Beaches. We were both pretty nervous as we were the first to meet Suzie, Bill and the cousins Dan, Kelly, Aaron and of course Jack!
They were all fantastic hosts so we spent the rest of our stay at theirs. We also spent the Easter weekend at a place called Hidden Valley which they had been going to for the past 12 yrs...and we could see why as the area was beautiful and there was so much to do for both the kids and adults.
Although it rained we had great fun playing tennis, golf and mingling with some true outback aussies. We even watched other family members compete in talent shows which included 8yr old violin recitals...quite an experience!!
Back in Sydney we visited the Easter Show which started out mainly as an agricultural show but over the 100 odd years it's been going for it's kind of morphed into a huge festival with all sorts of shows. Some of the best were the skateboard & BMX show, woodchopping competition, dog shows and the finale which included motorcross and rodeo shows.
Unfortunately time just went too quickly during our stay and we only managed one night out with Kelly and Dan taking us to one of their locals and only one visit to Dee Why Beach where Dan tried to teach Jake how to surf and Aaron and Jack showed Agneta how to body board.
We had such a great stay and really miss our new family members!
Jack - keep eating those tomatoes! Jake is in training so he'll beat you next time you have a tomato eating contest!
Aaron (the sportsman!) - We now know you're brilliant at rugby and aussie football, but try playing with the round ball and you'll have even more fun!
Kelly - stop eating those lollies when you know you're not supposed to!
Daniel - make sure you save some cash and we'll see you in the UK soon! We got a really comfy sofa!
Bill - We hope you're stood up so you're not asleep and can read this..! Thanks for all the beers, great hospitality and looking after us in Hidden Valley!
Suzie - thanks you so much for everything, you were the best host ever and we loved our time with all of you!! Hope you've stopped crying by now..
Paul - our source of knowledge and Bondi sand - thanks for being a great tour guide and if we ever need to know anything about anything anywhere we'll give you a shout!
We're currently in Bali and are going to try and catch up with everything so stay tuned....
