Whistle(r) down the Wind
Part of the reason that I booked this trip was to have a chance to see the Rockies in summer so I could suss out the best place to come to go skiing!! What I didn't realise however was that it was very difficult being a skier in a purpose built ski resort with no snow! Still I managed to get a piste map of the area to peruse!!!
After arriving at Whistler we got the chance to look around at the area which seemed like an upmarket ski resort to me.What seemed bizarre to me as a skier wasn't that everyone was mountain biking was the fact that they were using the chair lift to transport the bikes! During the time I got to see the Olympic Rings as well as some of the spectacular scenery that is all around the Rockies.
It was then time for the main activity of the afternoon - zip lining! For those that have never heard of this you get helmeted and harnessed up, attached to a metal trolley which is attached to a thick wire and slide down it.T'was brilliant! We got to see great views of the area as well as have a great rush of adrenalin. The video I have hopefully uploaded shows the last slide and needs to be watched with sound! This was rounded off with a visit to one of the World's Top 10 Ice Creameries (it was a tough choice between this and Beavertails!).
That evening has to rate as the funniest of the trip as we got to know each other over pre dinner drinks and dinner. We ended the evening at Buffalo Bills where it happened to be Ladies Night - cue a free glass of pink champagne and chocolate coated strawberries - perfection in my book!
