We are Golden
It was up early this morning to visit Lake Moraine and Lake Louise. Both of these are Glacier fed, very blue lakes in the Rockies, with Lake Louise being the more well known with a big hotel next to it. Both of these lakes are very impressive and beautiful however I preferred the vantage point at Lake Moraine as you are high up and get a more spectacular view of the Lake although both are work a visit!
We also had a visit to the Takakkaw Falls - an impressive high drop (the second highest in Canada!) although not huge volumes of water flowing through.
It was then on to Golden and White Water Rafting on the Kicking Horse River! I was a little bit worried about how I would fair given my back/hip was still fairly sore however I needn't have - it was brilliant! As the river is Glacial fed it was very cold so we got to dress up in wetsuits, booties, splash vests and helmets - not that they did much my feet were still freezing! We went over 1 Class 4 rapid and some 2's and 3's. The time seemed to go really quickly and I am now really looking forward to my 3 days of rafting in Peru but am hoping it's slightly warmer!
Golden as a town didn't really have a lot to offer so it was a good chance to catch up with email and people on Skype before another helping of Bison (this time as a burger!) and bed!
