Sunday, 12/18 -- Shoreham, VT -- Perched on 18 wooded acres overlooking farmland and open space stands "Heritage Hill", my Uncle Larry's country oasis. Nat has always possessed an interest in seeing Vermont and "my roots", so "Heritage Hill" in Shoreham, situated not far from the original Brisson(grandmother's maiden name) farm, seemed the logical first stop. Our tour starts tomorrow with visits to the Audette dairy farm (my 2nd cousins), the Buxton Country Store in Orwell (Aunt Thelma & Uncle Dick) and other addresses key to Provost/Brisson history.

Our family's geneology has long been a topic of conversation (and debate) between Natalie and I. I've told her for years that I'm "part Native-American" and also related to Martha Washington (George's wife). True to form, Nat has always met my claims with doubt and skeptacism. Well, after dinner, Grandma Provost did confirm both claims to be true -- my great-great grandmother was 100% Iriqois. For those of you with visions of free college tuition for the future grandkids -- Peter Ciampa -- our cousins already tried to no avail.
My native-American blood does explain my inability to grow a real beard. Think about it, have you ever seen an American Indian with facial hair? I sense a moose is 1/2 mile away and must investigate . . . will write more tomorrow . . .

Happy New Year's Ya'll. I have some sad news to pass along to Matt. His boy "Blue" passed away a few days ago in Fort Worth. Nat hold him tight while he weeps. Nothin' but love for you guys....travel safe.
