Hahndorf, South Australia
Well Saturday I went on a road trip- kinda to celebrate my birthday and really just to surround myself by good friends and have a fantastic weekend of playing tourist!
We left Raych, Mone and I left Moonta at 7.30am, a little earlier than I would have liked but living 2 hours from the city and needing to do so many things usually means an early morning!
Once arriving in Adelaide we went to collect Nae then we went to the Central Markets. Purchasing cheese and chocolate covered coffee beans! Yummie.... Then to our destination...Hahndorf.
Hahndorf is beautiful - expensive but beautiful! After arriving we went to the Beerenberg Farm! loving the jams and sauces - how nanna! Making some purchases we left for a little drive around the area finding signs on the side of the road saying - cumquat and chicken poo for which at the time we found quite comical!
Then we hit the main street. Lots of shopping - they shop keepers loved us. Everything was purchased from Candles, books and jewellery to lollies and scarves. The locals were friendly then we went off to our accomodation - the Hahndorf Resort!
This is is awsome - so beautiful, especially at night - the mist sitting on the pond was eary yet beautiful!
For dinner we went to the German Arms and in true German Tradition we hit the beer and ordered some kind of German Food which I later found isn't meant for me and if it is what german food is like I will be coming back from Frankfurt and Munich the size of a supermodel - this could be a good thing....
For dinner we were also joined by Anthea and her fabulous family, Sarah and Rick and my Auntie Sue and Shauna.
The Hahndorf inn was next where we drank steins of beer. To our astonishment people don't go out in Winter - NOTE TO SELF - Don't go to Hahndorf in winter. If you are hoping to meet new people it isn't the best time. THe locals there have a huge staring problem but hey we played on it and gave them a show!
The next day we headed to Woodside to Melba's Chocolate Factory! Oh my god - Chocolate Heaven! so good and bought way to many goodies - looks like i will be running for the next 20 years! Lobathel for the Markets - where we were welcomed there by a sweet old lady and then left there as we were meeting everyone in Gummeracha and the ever so famous big rocking horse!
THe Big Rocking Horse brought out the kid in us all. The little woodern toys were awsome... I bought the cutiest umberlla and a jockey humping a horse thang! but was so cool... THen Met Kate and her new man and climbed the Horse! Loved the view! not so safe for kids but still awsome!
Well after a long day we headed home back for Moonta.
