We safely crossed the Cambodia, Vietnam border and suddenly everything was more developed and although the number of mopeds was the same everyone had a helmet thanks to the recently passed law. The city itself was busy and the traffic like nothing you can imagine.Crossing the road here is truly a skilled art. No pedestrian crossings, in fact little in the way of road rules and just mopeds everywhere. It was just a case of shutting your eyes walking out and hoping they avoided you, which they generally did.
This was the final destination of our organisedtrip from Bangkok and we had a celebratory dinner and drinks which coincided with Hannah's birthday. The girls on the trip very kindly organiseda birthday cake at the table accompanied with a fantastic version of "happy birthday' from the waiting staff.Very nice touch, only wished I thought of it.
We visited the usual sights in the city being ReunificationPalace, Notre-Dame Cathedral, Saigon Zoo and Botanical Gardens and the War remnants museum. The museum was again very harrowing and displayed in detail Americas involvement in the war. From here we decided against any further travel in Vietnam and booked flights to Vientiane in Laos.
