Where's Suzie?
This is all looking quite impressive now eh. In Auckland and feels like being back in civilisation too....it's sooo good to be able to communicate with people again!! My experience of NZ so far has been that it's just like the UK. It's meant to be summer here but cloudy and rainy, they drive on the proper side of the road and speak the same language (almost).
My journey here was good as I met some backpackers at the airport in Tahiti who kinda took me under their wing (and helped me with my heavy bag!!). When we arrived we all went up to Takaponga (or something like that) and stayed in a hotel run by one of Julian's (one of the guys from the plane) mates. We stayed there, had a barbie, a few sherbies and listened to some live music (awful!!!). Got up the next day and we were all given a lift into the centre of Auckland where most of us checked into this huge backpackers place (Auckland Central Backpackers). It's got everything here you could need so it's been a good place to settle for a bit and get stuff washed, posted, watch footie and get organised (although it is full of smelly studenty types).
I'm spending a few days here whilst the others are at lake Taupo then they're gonna pick me up on the way up to the Bay of Islands on Friday - which is nice!
It's all just starting to dawn on me what I've been up and can't quite believe i'm on the other side of the world....I've only been gone a few weeks but it feels like a lifetime considering where I've been and how much I'm missing home. I'm having a fantastic time though and meeting some really cool people.
I'm off now. Keep the messages coming and I'll check in again once I get back from oop north xxxxxx
