Where's Suzie?
Sorry I've not been in touch for a while but here's a quickie to get you up to speed on our stay in Sydney. Met up with mum and ange at the airport (after bumping into Justin Smith of BAT Singapore who used to work in London with me - weird or wot!) and after arriving in Sydney myself earlier that day from Cairns (where I'd missed my flight by 24 hours - yes, I arrived a day late - doh!!). We got in our cab and made our way to the apartment which is right near Darling Harbour, right in the centre of things. Have spent each day since going to all the tourist sites and trying out all their lovely restaurants here. 1st we went to the aquarium and saw sharks and wot not (seen it all before myself ;-)). Next day we walked to the observatory and had a look around there, walked through The Rocks to Sydney Opera House where we went on a guided tour of the place and had lunch in Circular Quay. We then took a boat back to Darling Harbour. The next day I started feeling the affects of a cold Angie had brought over with her so had a rest and met up with Ange & Mum by the harbour where Dragon Boat racing was going on to mark Chinese New Year (The Rooster apparently). There were bad storms that evening and it chucked it down. The next couple of days I stayed in whilst Mum & Ange trolled around town. Once I'd recovered a bit we went on a day trip to the Blue Mountains which was lovely. On the way we stopped at the Olympic park and saw some Kangaroos at a national park. Then went for coffee in Leura then walked down loads of steps to see Wentworth Falls. Was very scenic but made me feel rougher. After lunch we went to Echo Point where the 3 sisters are then went down on the steepest railway down to a temperate rainforest walk. This was most fun as it went at a pure vertical and mum was screaming and hanging on for dear life (wish I'd had a video camera). Came back up on a cable car and the tour guide finally found a dutch couple who'd gone missing earlier and ended up walking through the mountains. The next day Mum & Ange went to Hunter Valley for wine tasting (I didn't go due to the fact that I can't smell or taste a thing) so I went to the Lord of the Rings expo at the Powerhouse Museum. The next day we all went to the top of the Sky Tower and went on this funny tour where we were taken on a ride in these chairs that moved all over the place. We then walked to Mrs Macquaries chair (via her bush!), through the Botanical Gardens then on the ferry again back to Darling Harbour. Today we walked to the ANZAC war memorial then up Oxford St, which was teaming with poofs ready for mardi gras (trust me to come to Oz when it's full of gays) to Paddington market. Came back and went on the mono rail around town then back home to put our feet up!! I think I've remembered everything but if I think of anything else I'll put it on. Tomorrow we're off to Manly and to see Tony and his wife (friends of dad's). Bye for now and hope you've enjoyed this latest installment. Suzie, Mum and Ange xxx
