Not a massive fan of Lima. Probably something to do with the fact im not a fan of cities full stop. But this one didnt help that! Two thirds of Peru`s population live in the capital - Lima. Subsequently it´s very crowded, frantic, dirty and noisy. It is also covered in heavy smog 80% of the time. Even the sea next to it is so dirty it´s a designated no-swimming area - that was the icing on the cake! As you walk down the street your personal space is invaded constantly by people trying to sell you stuff or trying to get you to eat in their restaurant. Although this is not uncommon elsewhere, here they seem to have a whole new persistancy to the point of annoyance.
Despite all of this, the city does have some beautiful traditional buildings, this was sprobably its saving grace. Oh and a lovely man to fix my camera, which i got full of sand whilst sandboarding - suprise, suprise! 6 of the group left us here, which was really sad. You get attatched to people when you spend every day with them for 7 weeks, plus it was the wrong six - i could have picked six others that i would have rather left!! Gona be strange without them although on the plus side, much more space on the truck. All in all, wont be too sorry to leave here.
