Headed back to Santiago. Stayed in a fantastic hostel one of our best yet, which was great as all we planned on doing here was relaxing and sorting out our things for New Zealand. By sorting out I mean rooting through all of our stuff and taking out anything natural or food - bye bye all my lovely amazonian seed/wood/shell necklaces. In fact i realised all of my necklaces had either seeds, wood or shells on them. We even had to wash our hiking boots, so we dont take and mud in. They're ruthless! The hostel really was fantastic. It doesn't take much to get it right, but when it is it opens all the doors for a great social atmosphere. We had a games room, Gem and i showed a couple of American guys up at pool one night, dvd room, massive kitchen, outdoor patio, one of our best yet.
We did get to take the fenicular railway to the top of one of the nearby hills to get a panoramic view of the city. The city is surrounded by mountains, however because of this all the smog gets trapped and there is a constant haze over the city and you can only just make out the outlines of them. The city is really flat, you never really feel like you are in a city a all and in our short time here the Chilean people have been the friendliest, most helpful people yet. Would have liked ro have seen more of Chile but hey....another day. And it was the most expensive country yet, but i guess thats just preparing us for New Zealand. Im so excited now, i cant wait!!!
