So yesterday was pretty boring - we drove from New Braunfels to Del Rio. We did however stop at Gristmill again for lunch before leaving our favourite place of Gruene. They had ribs on the menu yesterday and the waitress recommended them but when we got there, it was gone. The waitress asked in the kitchen, and if you were from far enough out of town, you were allowed some. Luckily for Emma and Brianna, Australia counts as far enough out of town!
There was not a lot of anything exciting to see - almost reminded us of driving in the country back home, except there were way more towns along the way. We stopped in Castroville and Hondo for quick breaks and arrived in Del Rio by late afternoon.

Today was a long day of driving from Del Rio to Terlingua. The drive was amazing. It was pretty lonely for most of the day, and after lunch in Marathon, we continued down towards Big Bend National Park. To say it was breathtaking and awesome doesn't do it justice! We stopped for loads of photos along the way and inside the park! We stopped at a Border Patrol checkpoint and apparently being Aussie means we were holding up the queue so they asked us to pull up out of the way so they could take a 'closer' look at our passports. I think they have heatseeking camera's on the way in as they don't even ask to check the boot…
We then continued on through Study Butte to Terlingua - a ghost town. Whilst not quite a 'ghost town' (there are still a few people living here but not the 2000 as in its hey day), it is pretty much the middle of nowhere, with more fallen down rock huts than there are living people. It is quaint and creepy all at the same time but the place we are staying is really cute! It is all rocks and not much else! The toilet is in a building just outside the door and then the shower is up the hill a bit…
We went to the Starlight Theatre for dinner. Apparently, this is the place to be as the population of Terlingua at least quadruples at dinner time! It was a dark and scary walk back to the house (we didn't even think about a torch!!) but we made it!
