Greetings from Singapore,
Well what can i say other than this is such a vast contrast to India! To give a comparison it took us almost 2 1/2 hours to get from our hotel in mumbai to the airport. So that makes you think its a huge distance to be travelled....no no no, its about 40km, and 40 very slow heavily congested kilometers. Then when we arrived into Singapore airport we virtually flowed through the formalities and within about 1 1/2 hours of landing we were at our hotel.
I will conceade that the trip to mumbai was not all negative, we left just before sunset, allowing us to see the beautiful orange light set behind the mumbai sky line. We did get a little reminder of where we were with the odd blast of the smell of mumbai, which certainly isn't a treat for the nose!
Anyway we are in singapore which is as you can imagine a high rise western shopping mecca. Now when i say shopping mecca i don't really think you realise how many shopping centres there are! We went for a little walk along orchard road (the main road with the shopping malls) and got less than half way before getting intimidated by the shear volume of shops. On the plus side you get a very welcome blast of cold air conditioned air as you walk past the entrances, which takes (albeit briefly) the incredible humidity! Last night we went to the night safari in Singapore, which was unsuprisingly packed with tourists! It was quite an odd place, however it was unsuprisingly nowhere near as good as seeing the majority of all the animals in the jungles of Nepal whilst on foot/ elephant back, but still another good experience!
I think an evening like this would be the highlight for most people, however the favourite part of our night was our dinner. We went to a place called clark quays which is full of different restuarnts and bars, including a hospital themed bar called clinic which serves cocktails in pouches normally associated with a drip, but i digress, we went to a place called hot stones for dinner last night. There were a number of factors that drew us hear, but the main one being the display fridge which was proudly showing us very appertising beef strip lions :D So we both went for surf and turfs, which consited of 3 king prawns, three strips of salmon and BEEF uncooked and then swiftly followed by a slab of hot granite to cook our own dinner on to our taste! A very cool concept and more importantly a great dinner!!
So i think we have our route for the next few days sorted with a flight to KL in a couple of days and a few more days of sight seeing her in Singapore on the tour bus!
Next stop raffles for a singapore sling.....and a considerably lighter wallet!
See y'all soon
