We were so excited when we arrived in Carmel, on the coast of California, just about 3 hours south of San Francisco this afternoon. It's such a beautiful, quaint seaside town, with the most amazing houses and gardens. It's a really special little place and we have thoroughly enjoyed our time here. It's quite scary to think we are right by the big Pacific Ocean. The tides here are so strong that it's life-threatening and even surfers don't seem to brave the waters here. There are boards by the beach warning people about the sudden and unexpected currents.
We had a lovely late breakfast (which was actually a late lunch at 2.30pm) at the Village Corner Cafe and then headed to our hotel to check in. We spent the afternoon driving down to Big Sur and then had sundowners on the beach at Carmel before heading back to the hotel to sit in the jacuzzi. We have been so spoilt, as most hotels we have stayed in have had jaccuzzi's. It's great! We might just get so used to it that we will have to get one for our house in Cape Town. We've been thinking how nice it would be to entertain our family and friends.
Heading back to San Francisco tomorrow afternoon.
