Today we left Muscat at 07:30 on
Bright sunlight and a glowing 27 degrees. No sooner have we left the harbour than we run into heavy seas and thick sand storm. This has stayed with us all day. It's strange really you can't feel the sand in the air it looks like fog but everything is coated in a very fine dust. When looking out of the windows everything looks white. So as we are passing the straits of houmez we are only 16 miles off the coast of Iran I was looking forward to seeing navel vessels etc. but it has been a total whiteout. Well no complaints really as this is as close to bad weather as we have had, and whilst we can't see much and there are very strong winds on the open decks it's still warm and dry. We are back in port tomorrow in Abu dhabi.
You may notice from the cover photo of today's entry that I've been enjoying the buffet more that is healthy for me. We both still get down he gym on sea days but I fear we are fighting a loosing battle. What the heck we are on holiday!!
The people watching just gets better on board, we are quite professional at it now we have identified several surly characters and each of the six of us watch out for them on board and report back in the evenings on their sightings during the day. Amazing what passes for entertainment on board. You will probably read this and think they must be really board but we are loving it. You come to accept that the sailing is just the method of getting you from one place to the other, and as a group we find this sort of entertainment better than the P&O sort! Then when we get to our new port we arrive fresh and relaxed and off we go, it's a brilliant way of getting around we just need people under the age of 80 to take it up, the problem is it takes time to get around and working people don't have that time - except some of us lucky ones!
Till tomorrow.....
