Just checked in. It´s 21:15 and it´s been a really really long day. The 4 hour train tipr just draged. I kept nodding off, the train does this to me all the time. I´ve developed an uncanny ability to nod off anywhere, anyhow, anytime. I reckon I could even sleep standing up. Working shiftwork does have some advantages I suppose, getting used to sleeping at odd hours allows me to nap at anytime. I took the easy option when I arrived at Pamplona and got a cab from the station to the hotel and glad that I did. It would have have been around a 4km walk on a straight stretch of road from the station to the hotel, however when we were driving the Cops had blocked off part of the street and we had to detour. I am extremely directionally challenged and being very sleep deprived this would have really messed me up, so thank God for cabbies. The cabbie couldn´t speak English and my Espanol is ´no bien lo siento´ (no good, sorry - I can apologise and say please and thank you, but little else), but we found a common bond in music. He had a Dire Straits CD playing in the car and when I commented ´muy bien Dire Straits´ he laughed and loosened up. I don´t even know if what I was saying made any sense, but he seemed to understand. He was telling me that he loved them I think, something amor and held his hand to his heart, so I´m assuming this is what he meant. Music really is the universal language.
The hotel is nice, it´s a fully serviced apartment actually, it´s got everything including a supermercado next door (supermarket) so I can get some food tomorrow and have a cook up. Despite popular misconception I do cook when required. I´ve got two nights here and then will be slumming it for the next 30 or so nights so am going to enjoy it while I can. I think I´m over rierd and can´t sleep so will watch some TV (The Simpsons and American Dad in Spanish - what a crack up. Pity I´m so desperately sober right now, this would be even funnier if my mind was a bit messed up.
