9am in the lobby we met Poo our guide who with Gawrn, the driver escorted all but Carla and Freddie , on our "Where's Wendy?" tour.
Where's Wally? Sorry I mean where's Wendy? On our guided bus tour around
Bangkok we had difficulty explaining to the guide that the three of us, L S and B only met the three of them CA, M and K yet we were all here celebrating Wendy's birthday who, by the way, is not here. Where is Wendy? BARCELONA , of course!!! Poor poo, she was confused.
Losing Michelle at the weekend markets was easy, high on shopping hormones, she was offfffffffff. Katina and I waited patiently at the meeting place and yes Miss shopper was 1/2 hour late. Completely saturated with sweat we shopped till we dropped.
Lunch at a canal side restaurant was delicious and we were starving by 1 pm. Off then to the Royal palace. Adorned in cardigans sarongs and pants we sweated and listened attentively.
The canal tour was a hoot, trying not to talk was a killer- we didn't want the murky brown water in our mouths. It was bad enough it went on our ice creams. We fed cat fish and enjoyed seeing another side of Bangkok.
The Reclining buddha temple was our last temple. Totally COVERED from head to toe, not to offend the Buddhist monks, Michelle heads for the loo; Only to mistake the men's for a unisex toilet ...
The bus tour success was due to the drivers endless supply of cold water, cold face towels and the respite of the air-conditioned bus. Poo was knowledgable and friendly and delivered little bronze elephants to our hotel as a thank you (we obviously paid too much).
Carla and Freddie head for Chatachuk
Markets by themselves Saturday. Kidnapped by the tuk tuk driver they were taken to a gemstone market.
They were not amused as driver tells them they have to get a petrol coupon for him from inside the store. A Big argument ensured as the voucher was not going to be released till madam made a gem purchase.
Throwing an aussi dollar at the driver C and F fled. In their haste , however, Carla was nearly knocked over by van but lives to tell the tale Freddie and Carla finally reach market destination by taking a cab. Fantastic fun and so much to see and do.
C and F ended their day with massages and then rendezvousing with the others they went to Vertigo for drinks and dinner. Spectacular!! Big night was had by all!!
Ca, M and K decided to spend the evening at the upmarket shopping mall. We choose a restaurant for dinner because it had a bar and after scanning the price tags in a few shops we walked back to the hotel and collapsed exhausted into bed at 10.30pm.
