Liz and I left California and took the long 12+ hour treck (or drive) to Albuquerque, New Mexico.
I had no idea of what to expect when we traveled through Arizona. It was more beautiful than I could have imagined. We crossed the Colorado River and it was a desert oasis in a sea of brown. The vegetation was completely different as well. Tall cacti and green shrubs, very beautiful.
Further long our drive we started to approach Flagstaff. Let me just say, Flagstaff is AMAZINGLY BEAUTIFUL!! It reminded me alot of Northern California, a lot of trees and at least a 20 degree difference from the rest of the state.
After Flagstaff we kept east and once again the scenery changed. It went from green vegetated awesomeness to amazing colors of red and purples moving across the mesa top peaks. We made a stop at Meteor Crater and it was pretty cool to see, but it was also a giant hole in the ground lol.
We finally made it to Albuquerque around 10:30 (9:30 minus the time change) and stayed the night with Liz's friend Anny (who is super awesome and has a great family).
The next two days will be spent in Colorado Springs and Denver, Co.
