OK so happy late christmas to all back home. So where did i leave you? I think i was about to go to the cinema with justin and todd. We did go that night and we saw into the blue, it was amazing, about a masacre that took place in a small village near dunedin which is very close to here. The next day we went to the clip and climb, the climbing wall which was fun and really easy to use, but it doesnt exactly belay for you it just gives you a controlled descent but the heavier you are the quicker you fall so you don't really trust it at first. That night steph and steve picked us up. The next day we got ready for christmas, we collected a christmas tree and decorated it and steph me and rosie went on a nice little bike ride round the lake on there mountain bikes. Then on christmas eve we set about building a sandpit for alexander, we went to the beach to get some sand and dug out there compost heap. Alexander is a lovely little boy, very funny, he loves helicopters and knows alot more about them than me (not a hard thing really) he can name loads of helis and when he wrote his christmas list he asked for loads of planes and helicopters. That morning we went to church, its quite small and friendly and steph and steve did readings. Alexander has lots of friends and wanted them to come over to play the whole time. That evening we watched one of the james bonds, die another day i think, we tried to watch one of the old ones but the sound effects and acting were so bad we had to swap! On christmas morning we got up early, steve woke us up with some apple juice and i was quite confused and thought the postman was at the door. It turned out that alexander was so excited he woke at 5 and opened all his stoking presents and then he wanted to open the presents under the tree so we got up and had breakfast and then opened presents. In church it was a childrens service and i spent it with a little girl called mikah who is the sister of one of alexanders friends she was very cute. After church we got ready for lunch and had two of steph and steve's friends from chuch over, we had a wonderful lunch of ham and stuff and an amazing choclate cake for pudding. Then we played a game of pass the pigs where you throw these rubber pigs to get a score. Then steph, steve and alexander went out and me and rosie built lots of lego things for alexander, which he loved and we loved making. We spent ages making a huge lego airport that was very complicated. That evening we sat around and had a chat, we hadnt really found out what was going on with each other so it was a real chance to catch up, it was really nice to get to know them abit better and i feel alot closer to them now than i did before. We were up quite late chatting, till around 2:30 and then we went to bed and i read alexander's baby book which was very sweet. The next morning i woke up fairly early and rosie slept in, so steve went to phisio and me, steph and alexander went for a little walk down to the beach for a drink and to get some air. Then later we had abig water fight which alexander liked and all got soaked. Then we went down to the beach and steve went for a swim while we watched all wrapped up in towels. Then in the evening we sang some carols had a nice supper and an early bed. Then the next morning we left. I had an amazing time, definitly one of the best christmas's i've had and i was quite sad to leave this morning just as i felt we were catching up again. Wanaka is beautiful and if i didnt have family and friends in england i would move there in the drop of a hat. It didnt feel like anything had changed between us even though it has been a couple of years since we last spoke. There faith obviously means alot to them and it was so lovely to be part of there family for a few days. I really appreciate it that they don't treat us like children as some people do because of the age gap, instead they just treat us like there friends and i know rosie felt really welcome and enjoyed herself as well. So a big thankyou to the combe family for christmas. Hope all your christmas's were as good. Ellie x
