OK so i'm on the rowing camp and its incredibly hard but more about that when i have more time. Yesterday we were on a walk when we noticed a big smoke cloud, not that unusual as there are bush fires around but it was huge. So last night the coaches sat around and discussed whether we were going to be able to climb mount kousiosko tomorrow which is the tallest mountain in oz. This morning we got up and i was just about to start the track when richie stopped me and said that we werent climbing it and instead we just climbed merritts this other mountain. We got down and gill said that we might be going to evacuate as the fire moved 25km in an hour last night and it was only 12km away now. So we started to pack, then they said that we had to leave by 3pm, 2 hours away and then they said we only had an hour. So rapid packing ensued and we shoved everything in one tiny minibus as richie had forgotten to put the handbrake on yesterday when we went on the walk and the minibus rolled into a big rock and broke the radiator. So we had to evacuate all 40 people in one 11seater minibus with all our stuff, we did it in 2 runs! All around the town everyone was packing and the fire station opposite said they were digging trenches at the far end of the village and loads of heli's came in and picked up water from the lake to drop on the fire. Very exciting, so we went to the evacuation centre and registered everone and they are meant to find accomadation for you but theres no where to stay so we think were going to stay in a girl guides camp! There are 40 of us so you can see why. Its baking here 37degrees, really windy and theres another big storm coming in and its the lightening that starts the fires. But i'll give you another update soon. Ellie x Oh i've got another 5mins, so i'll tell you some more, the park were in is on the border to vicotia state, half there electricity is generated here but it was cut off by the fire so there all without power. Merritts is this mountain we've climbed 3 times so far, its hell, 45mins of step ups, its 1925metres tall! I have been rowing the whole time and its quite hard work but i've been stroking there second quad, its good fun. Ok better go now. E
