Kate,Jo and Bronagh Get Around
Well we have had the most mental few days ever. This is one for all the Neighbours lovers out there.
We got to Melbourne on Sunday morning and went to the Hostel, where we are sharing a room with about 11 boys. who are all a bit smelly. (Though to be fair we've made quite a mess since we got here!).
On Sunday night we went out with all the guys from the hostel to watch the closing of the Commonwealth Games. It was really good. We watched it all on a huge screen with thousands of people, and the fireworks were absolutely amazing, coming off all the buildings (we've got good photos of that).
So that was good. But on Monday, it all started. We went on the Neighbours tour. It was good cos we met three English girls in Byron Bay and met them on this tour, they're comin to New Zealand too. We got to go to Erinsborough High, and then...... Ramsay Street. So cool. It was quite small but it looked exactly the same. The bus was so cheesy, Neighbours DVDs and everything. We found out loads of stuff too - Stuart was in Big Brother over here, and his brother Ned was in Pop Idol. Joe Scully was really into drugs and was a bit aggressive so they couldn't trust him with baby Oscar and had to get rid of him. Thats why he just disappeared. And he sued them for unfair dismissal and he won 109 million dollars. Excellent. Stuart is going to die, Karl and Susan get remarried, Janae and Boyd get married (and have a baby), but the worst news ever..... Conor dies. Well they said he leaves and it will be impossible for him to return. There goes our plans to join the show as Conors sisters. So that was just the day, Neighbours night was unbelievable. At the start we were chatting to these guys who turned out to be Stingrays Band, no joke. They were lovely so we bought tickets to see them and Dr. Karls band playing. But anyways, we had the best night. Harold, Max and Janelle were there. Max was fit. Janelle was really pretty in real life and really lovely. Harold was a dirty old man, but everyone still loved him. Bronagh was a bit shocked cos he was being rude during his speech. He came over at the end and apologised and gave her a kiss on the cheek!! He was lovely though. They all go round the room and chat away, except Harold was in a special room cos hes a bit old. But they were all really nice and friendly. The rest of the night was brilliant too, our team came 5th in the quiz (we thought we'd won and went mental. A bit embarrassing!), and Charlotte, Clare and Laura (the English Girls) were there too. And Jo won a drink for cheering the loudest. We had such a laugh.
The next day we went up the Observation Tower to see all over Melbourne, which was gorgeous, like the Sydney Tower. Then we, gasp of shock, went to a museum. Cultured people as we are, we took a big tram ride, haggled our way in for free, went to see Helen Daniels from Neighbours' kitchen, and got outta there fast. But it was cool.
So last night was Stingray and Dr. Karls Bands night. "Batman Street" were on first, and were really good. Loads of Saxophones and stuff, very Flange Band-esque. We danced our little socks off. Karls Band (The Waiting Room) were actually really good, we were very impressed. More dancing. Bronagh managed to smuggle in her video camera so its very funny, although you can hear the bit when she gets caught and it gets confiscated. Jo met the girl who hired her from Ranstad in the toilets, which was completely bizarre. We also managed to get back stage (we're mates with the band so we are). To meet Karl, you had to buy a CD, and even then you weren't guaranteed to get in. But with a bit of charming we managed to get in there twice, no CD in sight. Grandma (Bronaghs), he said to say hello and I told him your vital stats, so he said he'll be over in a while to check you out. He was so lovely, really friendly and he gave Jo the playlist, which is signed by him and Stingray. We talked to Stingray too, but to be honest he was a bit arrogant. He was nice to us and stuff but you just got the impression he was a bit up himself. The rest of the band were lovely, Bronaghs new mate John gave us his e-mail and everything so we'll definately be keeping in touch. But there was one moment when we went up to see him and just then Stingray walked out so all these people were talking photos of the band, and us! It was like the paparrazi, we felt very famous! Jo stole a Neighbours pen, its OK, there was loads of them.It was so good just chatting to them all, a really good night.
Also mums, for you, Happy Mothers Day, check out the pics we got for you!!
