Kate,Jo and Bronagh Get Around
The Best Thing Ever just happened. No joke. Joanne Christina Beagan just fell right across the aisle of a packed bus into one of the sets of four seats facing each other. She landed full on on her knees, with her hands on two girls legs. No one laughed, there was just complete stunned silence. One of the girls gave her a dirty look, so she moved that hand onto the other girls legs. Still unable to get up, Jo just tapped the girls knees and went "ooooo sorry". I don't think i have ever laughed so much. A top quality moment.
Anyways, we've had a pretty good week. Last time we did an update, we were in Byron Bay, now we're in Sydney. We had a surfing lesson, which was well hard. Bronagh had to be brought back onto the beach for extra lessons cos apparently shes "one of those ones who keeps changing the way its done" and "is too concerned about people seeing her bum". Joanne took to it much better - great balance (go back to the top and re-read bus story). But she really was good. In the end we were both able to stand and catch waves. Very cool. Bronagh got a massage, which hurt a bit but was very relaxing.
We also went to Nimbin which was..... an experience. People on drugs everywhere, lots of women not wearing bras, except one very pregnant woman wearing only a bra. It was a major hippy town, completely bizarre - like stepping back a few decades. There was museums and everything, so we've got good pics which we'll put up as soon as possible. We left that night for Sydney and got here on Wednesday morning. After a bit of a snooze, we headed to Sydney Harbour and saw the Bridge and Opera House. It was really pretty, so we hung about there until night, which was beautiful. The next day, we went to Bondi Beach. It was really cool, with loads of surfers (almost as good as us). Then we walked to Coogee Beach, which was a lot further than we thought. We ended up completely lost in a graveyard and walked straight into a funeral (with cameras and coke cans out- slightly embarrassing). We even considered asking the Gravediggers for directions, but thought it might be a bit inappropriate! And we made it eventually. That night we went up the Sydney Tower, which gives 360 degree views of Sydney. It was amazing - so high up you could see for miles around.
Yesterday, we got up early and climbed the Harbour Bridge Pylon. More beautiful sights! Then we caught a ferry to Manly Beach, a little town with more surfers, and plently of shops for us to gaze longingly at! We then caught a bus to Palm Beach. Not just any beach - this is Summer Bay! So cool (for those not in the know, Summer Bay is the set of Home and Away). We bought stuff from the Surf Club, which had a big sign that said "Club Official: Alf Stewart". Awesome. There was loads that you could regonise, but its much smaller in real life.
Today we went to Darling Harbour which is just a lovely bit of Sydney. Lots of fountains and stuff. After that we climbed the steps to the Opera House (we've been thinking about this one for ages, there really is a lot of steps!) From the top, we saw a wedding going on in the Botanic Gardens, so we decided to get in on the action. We even ended up getting our photos taken with the wedding guests (they asked us, so we'll be in their wedding photos!). It was a lovely service. Jo even got her photo taken with the band! The couple were loaded though. The receptions in the Opera House. So we're just getting ready for that now. We'll let you know how it goes. Speak soon. xo
PS only joking, we're actually getting ready for the bus to Melbourne, which'll be great. We let you know if Jo manages to get off it in one piece x
