Bonza from Brisbane
We've had a brilliant couple of days, we arrived on Sunday to sunshine and found our hostel right in the centre of the city - it is quite nice, despite the wolf bedding! On Monday we set off for a day trip to Moreton Island, which was brilliant - it is 98% sand. Our guide Brett was really good fun and made it a very memorable day. Anna wasn't too keen on the bumpy driving over sand to begin with but was loving it by the end of the day. We got round quite a lot of the island, saw some dolphins and I had a swin the sea - very cold. It is a very beautiful place, a smaller version of Fraser Island.
Today Anna was so happy as we went to Australia Zoo, home of the crocodile hunter, the late Steve Irwin. We picked up our hire car 'Kylie' in the morning and set off. It has to be the best zoo in the world! We fed the elephants and kangaroos, cuddled the koalas, and watched the crocodile show - a brilliant day all round. Tonight we are meeting up with Sarah King's sister Emily and her husband Travis for something to eat and a few drinks. Better go get ready.
Tomorrow we set off for a drive down the Gold Coast, via Surfer's Paradise, to Byron Bay. We've been really impressed by Brisbane, I'm a bit gutted that I didn't realise it is Australia v South Africa (Tri Nations rugby) here on Saturday as I would definitely have planned that in!
Lots of love
