An eventful couple of days! We landed in Sydney yesterday morning and got a taxi to our hotel in the Rocks only to find that Anna had lost her passport - the first time in seven years of flying. The staff at the hotel were really helpful and called the taxi company and the airport but no luck so far, hopefully it will turn up, if not then the British embassy said they can issue a temporary one.
Our time in Sydney was brief but fun. After the passport drama, we had breakfast and coffee on the waterfront overlooking the harbour bridge and then did a tour of the Opera House. The people selling tickets for the tour did a good job and convinced us to go see the Opera in the evening. We went for a meal at a lovely fish restaurant in the Rocks beforehand and then went to see Beethoven's Fidielo Opera at the 'Opera House', when in Rome and all that. It was great experience but I don't think we'll be rushing to see another Opera - Anna and I took it in turns to fall asleep! Jet Lag 1, the Webbs 0.
This morning we got up nice and early and caught a flight to Alice Springs. The crew were lovely and gave us some champagne. It was incredible seeing the vast sprawling desert for miles on the way here. It is a bit overcast though now and not what we were expecting, hopefully it will be nicer tomorrow. We are booked in for a 2 day, 1 night tour of the red centre, which involves sleeping in giant sleeping bags under the stars, it also involves plenty of hiking, when they were explaining Anna did not look impressed!! We've just been to buy a torch and some insect repellent. I'm sure it will be amazing, I just hope it doesn't rain.
Love from the Webbs x
