We are Sailing
Cheryl and I had a late breakfast at the Resort. We had to be out of the "penthouse" by 10am. We were being moved into an Oceanview room. I have attached the view of the resort from our balcony. Our glass bottom boat and snorkelling trip did not start till 12 midday so we decided to go down down and check out the shops.
We made our way back in time to catch the boat where Jackie the skipper was waiting to collect us. This was Jackies' first season in the West. Normally she has worked up and down the East Coast. Scott was the 1st mate and he was working his way around also, but fell in love with Coral Bay, so he is staying longer then he intended.
It took us about 30 Min's to get out to the area where the turtles usually feed. After a little while ewe found some turtles. By pure chance we also go to see a Dugong. (bonus!)
Next was our first snorkelling stop. Wow, the Coral was absolutely beautiful. The diversity and colours of fish was amazing, I have never seen anything like it. I saw the largest Manta Ray ever, and also saw a sea anemone. It is amazing how animals like clams disguise themselves to blend into the environment.
After about half an hour or so, we moved to the next spot. Again, more breathtaking scenery, and different types of fish. The iridescent purples, blues, yellows, greens, blacks, Grey's and silver fish, against a background of a huge diversity of light and dark blue, green and brown corals. People simply should not hesitate taking a trip to Coral Bay, and seeing this world class reserve.
Well eventually all things come to an end, and after about 31/2 hours we were back at the town beach, alighting from the boat. So like every good Australian, we made our way down to the pub for a drink and a meal.
We planned a relatively early night, as we wanted to get away at a reasonable time for our trip to Carnarvon which is about 41/2 hours away.
