2 Days to go before we catch our Korean Air flight to London Heathrow & it's mixed emotions with us both at present....From"Sadness" 'cause we are leaving SongHi's family... After a wonderful & very happy time spent in South Korea & plenty of good memories to take away with us...To "Excitement" 'cause we're looking forward to the next leg of our long journey & now catching up and spending precious time with my side of family & friends....
Tuesday the 28th was a unique day to remember....We were invited for lunch by senior staff at the local Agricultural Bank here in the village of Soyang & where SongHi's dad had managed for the last 50 years...they all still treat him as their manager & we felt quite honoured & priveliged..they were also excited to see Song after so long & kept reminding & embarrassing her of when she was little & wandered through to dad's office in the bank.....As a typical small village anywhere in the world, everyone knows each other & news of us being in town spread very quickly..Nice in a lot of ways but I guess you've also got to be on your best behaviour at all times.
The rest of the afternoon was at the other extreme,at helping laying straw over newly sown beds at Song's brother's farm...Interestingly,the seeds are of a local variety of pine which he works with when doing his "Bonsai" plant designing.
Wednesday was a slightly quieter day, giving SongHi some time hometime with her parents....I decided to get myself a haircut on Thursday...$8.00 well spent & that's including the shave & head shampoo..."I am very impressed"..!!..Song treated herself to some skincare products at less than half the price that you would find them in Australia & I did the same with the purchase of a K2 winter jacket at a popular mountaineering store here in Jeonju..With great inspiration for the day so far we both decided to take the 30 minute hike to the top of a local mountain that ended up giving us a good though somewhat hazy view of the city of Jeonju...
JongMin & her husband arrive tomorrow from Seoul & have kindly offered to drive us to the airport on Sunday morning, which means an early start as we have to be there by 10:00 am to catch the 13:15 flight from Incheon airport. Ah..well, we have a 10 hour flight ahead of us, so I guess we have plenty of time to snooze & catch up on sleep.
I guess we best start checking our backpacks,in hope that we are not carrying any excess baggage...and look forward to writing the next stage of this travel diary while in "Pomme Land"..
